# Your shift

**Your shift** is the Home that staff see when their role does not include **Dashboard · View**. It shows your name and role, the shift, one big button for your main job, your own orders and sales today, and what needs you. It shows nothing from the store's sales summary.

Owners and managers see **Today** instead. See [Your Home screen](/docs/store/dashboard/overview).

## Before you start

- A role without **Dashboard · View**, such as a cashier, server, crew member, kitchen staff or inventory clerk. This only happens with the Roles & Permissions add-on (included on Premium). Without it, every staff member has full access and sees Today.

## Steps

Open the app, or tap **Home** in the menu. A greeting at the top says "Hi" and your first name, with today's date in the store's time zone and your role.

With the Store Sessions add-on and **Register Sessions · Modify**, the greeting also shows who opened the shift, since when and the start cash. If none is open it reads **No shift open** with a hint to open one from Sell.

**Start selling** shows when you can sell: register, order, booking, table, waiting list, shift or claim tag access. It never shows in a warehouse store. Kitchen staff who do not sell see **Open kitchen display** instead. With neither, there is no button, and up to four shortcuts you can open take its place.

If you take orders (**Point of Sale · Modify**), **Your day so far** shows **Orders you took** and **Your sales** for today. These are your own figures and need no report access. Nothing shows while it loads or if it fails.

**Needs you** shows chips for new orders and orders ready for pick-up, plus booking requests and tables in use if you may open those. Tap a chip to open its list. A chip at zero is left out. Kitchen staff who do not take orders see how many orders the kitchen still has to make, and the chip opens the kitchen display.

Pull the page down to reload the counts.

## What happens next

- **Start selling** opens the register, and the chips open their lists. Press back to return to Your shift.

## Edge cases

- **No sales dashboard here.** One quiet line at the bottom says the store's sales dashboard is for owners and managers. Ask an owner for **Dashboard · View** if you need it.
- **Your own figures only.** **Your day so far** counts what you took, not the store's sales.
- **Kitchen count.** The kitchen chip counts open tickets that are pending or being prepared, once per order. It refreshes every 30 seconds while Home is open.
- **Chips follow your access.** Booking requests and tables in use appear only when you may open them.

## Troubleshooting

- **There is no button.** Your role cannot sell or work the kitchen display. Use the shortcuts, or the menu.
- **No shift shows.** It needs the Store Sessions add-on and **Register Sessions · Modify**. See [Store Sessions](/docs/store/using-store-session).
- **I want the sales dashboard.** Ask an owner to change your role in [Roles & Permissions](/docs/store/roles-and-permission/overview).
