# Tags and Badges

The **NFC** add-on lets your store write small tags that phones and the register read with a tap. Each kind of tag does one job.

Tags need the **NFC** add-on and a phone or tablet with an NFC reader. Writing happens in the Fuze Store app; reading a customer-facing tag works on any modern phone.

| Tag | What a tap does | Guide |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Business card** | Opens your store page with a Save contact button. | [Your Store's Business Card](/docs/store/nfc/business-card) |
| **Table tag** | Lets a guest at that table follow their own order. | [Table Tags and Order Codes](/docs/store/nfc/table-tags) |
| **Staff badge** | Signs a staff member in, unlocks a terminal, or approves an action instead of typing a PIN. | [Staff Badges](/docs/store/nfc/staff-badges) |
| **Product tag** | Adds that product to the order at the register. | [Product Tags](/docs/store/nfc/product-tags) |

## Tapping tags at the register

The POS register has an **NFC** button beside the barcode scanner. Tap it, then hold a tag to the device: a product tag adds the product to the order, and a table tag sets that table on the order. A tag the register can't use says so and adds nothing.

## Protecting tags

Under **Configurations → Preferences → Printing & Devices → NFC**, **Protect tags** (on by default) locks every tag you write so only your store can change it later. Turning it off does not unprotect tags you already wrote. See [Store Preferences](/docs/store/setup-your-store-preference#nfc).
