Setting Commission Rates
A commission rate can live at three levels. When a sale is recognized, Fuze Store resolves each staff member's own rate independently — an item override always wins, then that staff member's own rate, then the store default for that kind of item.

The three levels
Store default (lowest priority)
In Preferences → Store → Staff commissions, set one default rate for services and one for products — each as a percent of the sale or a flat amount per unit. This is what applies whenever nothing more specific is set.
Staff default (beats the store rate)
On a staff member's own profile, under Default commission rate, set a rate just for them. It overrides the store default for every item they work on, unless that item has its own override.
Item override (always wins)
On a product or service, under Commission override, set a rate specific to that item. It applies to every staff member on that line, regardless of their own staff rate.
Percent vs. flat amount
- Percent takes a share of the line's price (after discounts, before tax) — the common choice for service-based commissions (porsyento).
- Flat amount pays a fixed sum per unit sold, multiplied by quantity — useful for a retail add-on item you want to reward the same way regardless of price.
Either type can be set at any of the three levels; a staff member's percent rate can override a store's flat rate, and vice versa.
A rate change applies from now on
Changing a rate at any level affects sales recorded after the change. A sale already recorded keeps the rate it was priced at, even if its order changes later. See How Commissions Are Calculated.
Marco's 45% example
Say your store default is 40% on services. If Marco is a senior detailer, give him his own 45% staff rate — every service he works on now pays him 45%, without touching the store default everyone else uses. If one premium service should pay everyone 50% regardless of who works it, set a 50% override on that item instead.
Why is my number different?
- A staff member earned less than their own rate implies. An item override on that line beat their staff rate — check the product or service for a commission override.
- A staff member earned more, or less, than the store default. They have their own staff rate set, which always beats the store default.
- Two staff on the same line earned different percentages of it. That's expected. With no rate typed at the register, each staff member's own resolved rate is split evenly across the people on the line, so different rates give different amounts. A rate typed at the register is that person's own cut and is not split. See Assigning Staff Per Line.
- A rate you set doesn't seem to apply yet. Rates apply going forward only. Sales already recorded keep the rate they were priced at, even when their order is changed or closed later.
