Organization Roles and Branch Access
Every member of your organization has one role and one branch access. The role decides what they can do. The branch access decides where they can do it. Six roles come with every organization, and you can create your own.
What each role can do
| Role | Organization screens | In branches |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including deleting the organization | Everything, including owner-only settings |
| Admin | Everything except deleting the organization | Everything except owner-only settings |
| Payroll | People, pay profiles, pay runs (prepare, approve, mark paid) and reports | Nothing |
| Billing | Bills, payment method and the shared wallet | Nothing |
| Area manager | Sees people, sends them to other branches, sees pay runs and reports | What a store Manager can do: register, orders, catalog, discounts, refunds, customers, reports |
| Member | Sees the organization | Nothing |
Only an Owner or an Admin can reopen an approved pay run or see the activity log. The People, Pay profiles and Pay runs screens are here, with the organization's Commission report. More report screens arrive in a later release, and the roles already carry them.
Owner-only settings in a branch include handing over the store, AI connections, kitchen display activation keys and renaming or removing Hub devices.
Working a register still needs a staff place
A role that works in branches lets someone manage a branch without being added
as staff there. To open a register and sell, they still need a staff place in
that branch. The store switcher reminds them.
Branch access
Branch access is either:
- All branches: every branch linked to the organization, including ones you link later. Owners always have this.
- Chosen branches: only the branches ticked in the list. An Area manager starts with this.
Branch access matters for the roles that work in branches: Owner, Admin and Area manager. Payroll, Billing and Member see organization screens whatever their branch access.
Someone whose role works in branches finds their branches in the store switcher, under Organization branches. They do not appear in a branch's staff list.
Change a member's role or branch access
Do this in the Fuze Store app.
In the app, open Organizations from the side menu (it sits under
Stores); on the website, go to Account → Organizations. Then open
your organization.
Under Branch access, keep All branches on, or turn it off and tick
the branches.
Press Save. The change applies straight away, on every device.

Who can change roles
- You need a role that can manage members (Owner or Admin).
- You can only give a role whose permissions you hold yourself, and only branches you can reach yourself.
- Only an Owner can make someone an Owner, change an Owner's role, or switch an Owner off.
- An organization always keeps at least one active Owner.
- Nobody can change their own role.
- To remove an Owner, change their role first.
- The primary owner, who pays for the organization, keeps the Owner role: nobody can change it, switch them off or remove them. See Managing Members.
The same rules apply when you invite someone. If a change is refused, the app tells you which rule stopped it.
See the roles
Open your organization and press Roles to see each role, how many members hold it, and how many permissions it carries. Search for a role in the bar at the top, or press Filters and pick System or Custom under Type; Clear All shows every role again. Press a role to open it on the same three tabs as a new role. The six roles that come with every organization can't be changed: they open read-only, with a note at the top of each tab saying why.
Create your own role
Do this in the Fuze Store app. You need a role that can manage roles (Owner or Admin, or your own role with Roles · Manage).
On the General tab, give the role a name, such as "Shift lead". Two
roles can't share a name.
On the Organization permissions tab, tick what the role can do on the
organization's own screens. Each area, such as Members or Pay runs, has its
own card: tick a permission on its own, or tick the card's header to give
the whole card. Seeing the organization is always included, and a permission
that needs its view ticks it for you.
On the Branch permissions tab, choose what the role can do in the
branches its members can reach. Turn on All branch permissions to give
every one of them. Otherwise tick them on the cards, grouped the way a
store's own roles are (Sales & Orders, Catalog & Inventory, People and so
on); each group and each card has a tick-all header. To start from a
ready-made set, press Copy from a starter role at the top of the tab and
pick one of the 20 starter roles, such as Cashier or Supervisor.
Press Save at the bottom. Give the role to members from the Members
card, like any other role.

You can only give what you have
A permission you don't hold is greyed out with a note under it, and a card's
tick-all header skips it. You can't give it to a role, and you can't change a
role that holds more than you do. If your own branch access is limited to some
branches, you can change a role's branch permissions only when everyone
holding it works in your branches.
Change or delete your own role
Open the role from Roles, change it on any of its tabs, and press Save at the bottom. The change applies straight away to everyone who holds the role.
To delete a role, open it and press Delete beside Save, then confirm in the Delete role dialog. A role someone holds, or that a pending invitation offers, can't be deleted: Delete stays greyed out with the reason under it. Give those members another role, or cancel the invitation, first.
On the Fuze Store website, members show their role, including your own roles by name. Roles are created and changed in the app.

How organization roles meet a branch's own roles
- A member's organization role works in every branch of their branch access. The branch's own roles and staff list don't change.
- A member who is also staff at a branch gets both: their staff role there and their organization role.
- One of your organization's people visiting a branch gets the branch role picked when they were sent there, or the one the branch's managers set. See Roles and Permissions Overview.
