Which AI Tools Work Where
Every AI vendor handles custom connections differently. Some let you add one on any device, some are desktop-only, and some need a paid account on their side. This page compares them all so you can pick the right tool before you start.

If You Want to Use Your Phone
Only Claude lets you use a Fuze Store connection on a phone or tablet — and even then you must add the connection on claude.ai or Claude Desktop first. Once it's added, sign in to the Claude mobile app and it appears there automatically.
Every other tool is desktop, web, or terminal only.
The quickest path on a phone
Add the connection once in Claude on a computer, then ask questions from the Claude app on your phone while you're on the floor.
Free vs Paid on the AI Side
The Fuze Store AI Connections add-on is paid — that's the badge at the top of this page — but it is included free during your trial and during the public beta. Separately, some AI vendors also require a paid account before you can add a custom connection. The two are unrelated: you need the Fuze add-on either way.
Work on a free AI account: Claude (1 connector), ChatGPT, Mistral Le Chat, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Zed, Gemini CLI, Amazon Q Developer CLI.
Need a paid AI account: Perplexity, Claude Code, Codex.
A Note on ChatGPT
ChatGPT doesn't charge for this, but it does hide it. Custom connections live behind a setting called developer mode, which ChatGPT labels "elevated risk" — so the setup involves a warning screen that a lot of people stop at.
That warning is not about Fuze Store. It means OpenAI hasn't reviewed the address you're adding, because it points at your own store rather than a public directory listing. The rule to follow is: only add addresses you trust, and never one that someone else sends you.
Two other things to know:
- It's a computer job. Developer mode and the plugin form only exist in a web browser. The ChatGPT phone app can't do it.
- You pick your store per chat. After setup, click the + button in the message box and choose your store. In chats where you haven't, ChatGPT sees none of your data.

Tools That Can't Connect Yet
These come up often, so it's worth knowing before you spend time hunting for a setting that isn't there:
- The Gemini app (gemini.google.com) — cannot add a custom connection. Google offers this only in Gemini Enterprise – Business edition, where a team administrator sets it up, and it is still pre-release. The Gemini CLI in the table above is a different product and does work.
- Microsoft Copilot — there's no way to paste a web address into a Copilot chat. Microsoft routes this through Copilot Studio, where you build an agent and add the server to it as a tool, or through tenant-wide connectors an administrator sets up. Neither is a two-minute job for a shop owner.
Other MCP Tools
Tools not listed above may still work. Anything that supports the Model Context Protocol with OAuth — Kiro, OpenCode, Docker MCP Toolkit, and others — can connect using just your MCP URL. See Connecting Other MCP Tools.
